A part picker for sim racing

Buying a sim rig is not like buying a PC. There is no socket that either fits or does not — there are quick-release families that share a name and nothing else, cockpits drilled for one bolt pattern and sold as universal, and wheel bases that will out-torque the frame you were about to bolt them to. Most of it is only discoverable after the parcel arrives.

This is the tool that checks it first. Pick a wheel base, a wheel, pedals, a cockpit and screens one step at a time, and every choice is run against everything already chosen — 941 products across 77 brands, each carrying a profile of how it mounts, what it fits and what it needs. When something will not work you are told before you order it, not after.

What it checks

  • Quick release — whether the wheel and the base speak the same language, and which hub version to order when a rim ships in several.
  • Torque against the frame — a 21 Nm direct drive base on a wheel stand is the expensive mistake. It is flagged as an error, not a footnote.
  • Bolt patterns — pre-drilled cockpits only take the patterns they were drilled for, whatever the listing says.
  • Pedal mounting — floor plate, front rails, or nothing to bolt to at all.
  • Screen mounting — VESA size, panel weight, and whether the monitor mount is a separate purchase.
  • Building on a desk — what changes when there is no cockpit, including whether your desk will survive the clamp.

Prices, honestly

Where a price is shown it comes from a retailer that publishes it in pounds, re-checked every day, with the retailer named beside it and the cheaper of two marked. Where nothing we track lists a product it says not tracked yet — never a zero, and never a guess. 80% of the catalogue currently carries a price (757 of 941); the rest are here because they are worth choosing between, not because we can quote them. Prices show in pounds, euros or dollars, and a price already quoted in the currency you are reading is shown as quoted rather than converted.

Building more than one

A venue is a different problem from a rig. Twenty-five bays have to be the same as each other, the order has to be right the first time, and somebody has to know which of them has the older pedals in it. The builder has a fleet dashboard for exactly that: specify one rig, duplicate it across as many bays as you have, and it tracks what is on order against what is installed, flags where a bay has drifted from the spec, and exports the whole thing as a quote or an asset register.

What is a sim racing part picker?

It is the sim racing equivalent of PCPartPicker: you choose a wheel base, wheel, pedals, cockpit and screens one step at a time, and the tool checks that the parts you have chosen actually work together before you spend anything.

How do you know whether a wheel fits a wheel base?

Every product carries a profile — quick-release family, torque output, bolt pattern, mounting style, pedal plate type. A compatibility engine compares those profiles against each other and reports anything that will not work, anything worth checking, and what does fit. It covers quick-release families, torque against the rig class, bolt patterns, pedal mounting, side rails, screen mounting, and what changes if you are building on a desk rather than a cockpit.

Can a 21 Nm wheel base go on any cockpit?

No, and this is the mistake that costs the most money. A direct drive base putting out more torque than a frame is built to hold will flex under load and can damage the frame. The builder flags it as an error rather than a warning, because it is the difference between a rig that feels solid and one that moves under braking.

Where a price is shown it comes from a retailer that publishes it in GBP, re-checked daily, and the retailer is named next to it. Where no retailer we track lists a product, it says "not tracked yet" rather than showing a made-up number or a zero.

Can I see prices in euros or dollars?

Yes — GBP, EUR and USD. Rates are dated and attributed, and anything converted is marked as an estimate. Where a product is already quoted in the currency you are viewing, such as Fanatec in euros, the tool shows the price as quoted rather than converting it back and forth.
