SimHub with Assetto Corsa
Last updated · SimHub 9.11.22
Assetto Corsa publishes telemetry through shared memory and SimHub reads it with no configuration inside the game — it generally works the moment both are running. The two things that break it are an administrator-rights mismatch, where an elevated game or launcher means SimHub cannot read the memory region and fails silently, and mods or custom shaders that interfere with the shared memory structure. Assetto Corsa is PC only, because shared memory cannot cross a network.
Of all the sims, this is the one most likely to work immediately and the one where a problem is most likely to be caused by something you installed rather than by SimHub.
How it works
Shared memory, with no in-game setting to enable. Assetto Corsa publishes its telemetry structure whenever it runs, and SimHub reads it.
That is why there is no setup section worth speaking of and why the troubleshooting section is longer than it is for most games — when it does not work, the cause is environmental rather than configurational.
Any number of applications can read shared memory at once, so SimHub coexists with Content Manager, CrewChief and anything else without contention.
Setting it up
Enable Assetto Corsa in SimHub
The only required step. SimHub watches only the games you tick.
Check administrator rights match
If you launch through Content Manager and it runs elevated, or you have set the game to run as administrator, SimHub must be elevated too.
Drive
Values should appear immediately. Practice mode is fine.
Assetto Corsa gotchas
Administrator rights are the number one cause here. Content Manager, some mod managers and various launchers run elevated. A non-elevated SimHub cannot read an elevated game's memory, and Windows gives no error — SimHub simply reports no telemetry. Match them: elevate both or neither.
- Mods can corrupt shared memory. Assetto Corsa's modding scene is enormous and not everything is well behaved. If telemetry broke after installing something, remove it and test before assuming SimHub is at fault.
- Custom Shaders Patch and Content Manager are near-universal and generally fine, but they are additional layers between the game and the memory structure. Worth eliminating when diagnosing.
- Some mod cars report odd values — a rev limit that is wrong, or fuel that does not decrease. That is the car, not SimHub, and it shows up as an LED bar that never fills or a fuel warning that never fires.
- Assetto Corsa Competizione is a separate game in SimHub with separate settings. Enabling one does not enable the other.
What works well here
Assetto Corsa provides a full telemetry set and is one of the best sims for haptics — the physics detail that makes it worth driving is the same detail that makes shakers meaningful.
Because the modding scene is so large, it is also the sim where you are most likely to encounter cars with unusual rev ranges. Percentage-based shift light configuration handles this automatically; absolute RPM configuration does not. Use percent.
Common questions
Do I need to enable anything in Assetto Corsa for SimHub?
No. Assetto Corsa publishes telemetry through shared memory whenever it runs, with no in-game setting. Enabling the game inside SimHub is the only step.
Why does SimHub show no telemetry in Assetto Corsa?
Almost always an administrator-rights mismatch. Content Manager and some mod managers run elevated, and a non-elevated SimHub cannot read an elevated game's shared memory. Windows gives no error at all — match the elevation of both.
Can mods break SimHub telemetry in Assetto Corsa?
Yes. Mods can interfere with the shared memory structure. If telemetry stopped after you installed something, remove it and test before looking anywhere else — the modding scene is large and not everything in it is well behaved.
Does SimHub work with Content Manager?
Yes, and most people use both. The only caveat is elevation: if Content Manager runs as administrator, SimHub needs to as well.
Why does my shift light bar never fill in a mod car?
Some mod cars report an incorrect rev limit. Percentage-based shift light configuration adapts to whatever the car reports and is the right choice in a sim with this much modded content; absolute RPM configuration will be wrong for every car it was not set up for.
Is Assetto Corsa Competizione set up the same way?
It is a separate entry in SimHub with its own settings, so enabling one does not enable the other. The mechanism is the same — shared memory, PC only, rights must match — but ACC has no mod scene, so it is less prone to the problems above.
