SimHub on PS5 and Xbox: what actually works
Last updated · SimHub 9.11.22
There is no console version of SimHub and there will not be one — it is a Windows desktop application. What works is that some console games broadcast telemetry over your network as UDP, and a Windows PC on the same network can receive it and run SimHub normally. Gran Turismo 7 on PS4 and PS5 does this on ports 33739 and 33740; the F1 series and Forza Horizon do it too. Everything SimHub does then works: dashboards, LEDs, bass shakers, wind and motion. What does not work is anything needing shared memory, and there is no overlay on the console's own screen.
First, a disambiguation, because it accounts for a large share of the confusion on this subject.
This is not Thrustmaster's Sim Hub
Two different things share this name. Thrustmaster "TM Sim Hub" is a hardware product. SimHub here is independent Windows telemetry software written by a developer known as Wotever. If you arrived looking for how to connect a Thrustmaster hub to your console, this is not that page.
The name collision matters most on console searches, because Thrustmaster hardware is a console product and SimHub is not — so the two get mixed together in results and in forum answers. There is also an unrelated eSIM app called SimHub, which pollutes things further.
How console telemetry actually works
SimHub runs on a Windows PC. Always. There is no PS5 app, no Xbox app, and no plan for either — SimHub is built on .NET Framework and WPF, neither of which exists on a console.
What makes console support possible is that some games broadcast telemetry over the network:
- You enable telemetry output in the console game's settings.
- You point it at your PC's IP address.
- The console sends UDP packets across your home network.
- SimHub, on the PC, receives them and behaves exactly as it would with a PC game.
So a console setup is a PC setup with the data arriving over the network instead of from local memory. Everything downstream of that — dashboards, LEDs, shakers, wind, motion — is identical.
You need a Windows PC either way. That is the part people hope is not true. A console alone cannot run SimHub, and no amount of configuration changes that. If you have a PC on the same network, this all works; if you do not, it does not.
Which console games broadcast telemetry
| Game | Platform | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gran Turismo 7 | PS4, PS5 | UDP ports 33739 and 33740. Needs the console's IP address. |
| Gran Turismo Sport | PS4 | Same mechanism |
| Codemasters F1 series | PC and consoles | The best-documented console telemetry of any series |
| Forza Horizon 4–6 | PC and consoles | "Data out" in the game's settings |
| Project Cars 2 | PC and consoles | UDP telemetry output |
Everything else on the supported games list that is marked PC-only is PC-only because it uses shared memory, which cannot cross a network. Assetto Corsa, ACC, iRacing and rFactor 2 are all in that category and no console workaround exists.
Setting it up
Put the console and PC on the same network
The same normal network. Not one on guest WiFi — guest networks isolate clients from each other by design, which breaks this completely. Wired is better than wireless for both, though wireless works.
Find your PC's IP address
And ideally give it a fixed address in your router. Otherwise the router can hand it a different one after a reboot and the setup silently stops working.
Enable telemetry in the console game
Each game words it differently — "data out", "telemetry", "UDP output". Set the destination to your PC's IP.
Allow SimHub through the firewall
On both Private and Public profiles, and confirm the PC's network profile is set to Private. A Public profile isolates the PC from other devices, which is precisely what you are trying to avoid.
Enable the game in SimHub
SimHub only listens for games you have ticked.
Drive and check
Values should appear on SimHub's home screen. If they do not, work through game not detected — for consoles the usual culprits are the firewall and the network profile.
What you can and cannot do
| Works | Why | |
|---|---|---|
| Dashboards on a monitor, phone or USB display | Yes | Rendered by the PC, which has the data |
| Shift lights and RGB LEDs | Yes | Driven by the PC over USB |
| Bass shakers and ShakeIt Motors | Yes | Driven by the PC |
| Wind simulator | Yes | Driven by the PC |
| Motion | Yes | Driven by the PC |
| An overlay on the console's screen | No | SimHub can only draw on the PC's display, not the console's output |
| Shared-memory games | No | Shared memory cannot cross a network. This is why AC, ACC and iRacing are PC-only. |
| Running without a PC | No | SimHub is a Windows application |
The overlay limitation is the one worth understanding. SimHub's overlays are transparent windows on the PC's desktop; your console's video goes straight to your TV and never passes through the PC. A dashboard on a second screen, a phone or a USB display works perfectly — which is what most console users end up doing anyway.
If you want SimHub and something else at once
Console telemetry is UDP by definition, which means the one-application-per-stream rule applies to every console setup.
If you want SimHub and a lap-timing or coaching app simultaneously, you need UDP forwarding: SimHub receives the console's stream and re-broadcasts it to another port for the other application. The dedicated page covers it.
This catches console users more often than PC users, because on console there is no shared-memory alternative to fall back on.
Common questions
Does SimHub work on PS5?
Not on the PS5 itself — SimHub is a Windows application and there is no console version. What works is that Gran Turismo 7 broadcasts telemetry over your network on UDP ports 33739 and 33740, and a Windows PC on the same network can receive it and run SimHub normally.
Can I use SimHub on Xbox?
The same way. Forza Horizon and the F1 series broadcast telemetry over the network, and a Windows PC on the same network receives it. Enable "data out" in the game's settings and point it at your PC's IP address.
Do I need a PC to use SimHub with a console?
Yes, always. SimHub is a Windows desktop application built on .NET Framework and WPF, neither of which exists on a console. The console is the data source; the PC does everything else.
Can I get a SimHub overlay on my console screen?
No. SimHub's overlays are transparent windows on the PC's desktop, and the console's video goes straight to your TV without passing through the PC. Use a dashboard on a second screen, a phone or a USB display instead — which is what most console setups do anyway.
Why doesn't Assetto Corsa work with my console and SimHub?
Because it uses shared memory rather than UDP, and shared memory cannot cross a network. Every PC-only title on the supported games list is PC-only for that reason, and there is no workaround.
Do bass shakers work with a console?
Yes, fully. The PC receives the telemetry and drives the shakers over its own audio interface — the console is not involved beyond sending data. The same is true of LEDs, wind and motion.
Is this Thrustmaster's Sim Hub?
No. Thrustmaster's "TM Sim Hub" is a hardware product. SimHub here is independent Windows telemetry software by a developer known as Wotever. The name collision is a genuine source of confusion on console searches specifically.
