The best SimHub dashboards

How to choose one

Three questions, in this order. They eliminate most of the field before you look at anything.

1. What sim? A dashboard built around iRacing's telemetry will have empty fields in a game that does not provide the same data. Sim-specific dashboards are almost always better inside their sim than a general one.
2. What screen, and how big? A dashboard designed for a 5-inch USB display is unreadable stretched across a monitor, and a monitor dashboard on a phone is a wall of tiny numbers. Match the design to the physical size.
3. How far away is it? A dash on the wheel is read at arm's length; one on a second monitor is a metre away. This is the factor people forget, and it decides font size more than anything else.

Install several. It costs nothing. Dashboards are free to install and free to remove, and no two people agree on layout. Trying five and keeping one is a better use of an evening than reading reviews — including this one.

For iRacing

Adds computed properties that iRacing does not provide directly, which other dashboards can then display. Worth installing alongside whatever dashboard you choose — see the plugin directory.

For Le Mans Ultimate

NeoRed Plugin & Dashboard

Purpose-built for Le Mans Ultimate and notable for auto-updating itself, which matters for a title still changing quickly. The plugin and the dashboard are designed together, so the dashboard has access to data a generic one would not.

LMU is the clearest current case for a sim-specific dashboard. The game is new enough that generic dashboards have not caught up with what it provides.

General purpose

RSS Ultimate SimHub Dashboard

A widely used general dashboard covering the standard instrument set across sims.

Daniel Newman Racing SimHub Plugin

Adds lift-and-coast data and LED settings. The plugin and the associated dashboards are used together.

PS Dashboard for SimHub

A long-standing free option and a reasonable first install if you want to see what a good dashboard looks like before deciding what you want from one.

Tritium Dash

Another established community dashboard.

For a phone or tablet

Anything runs on a phone — the browser renders the same dashboard the monitor would. What changes is what is legible.

• Fewer elements, bigger type. A dashboard designed for a 27-inch monitor has forty readouts on it. On a phone you can read six.
• Landscape, always. Dashboards are designed wide.
• Android Auto Dashboard exists specifically for in-car head units, which is a different form factor with its own constraints.
• Mind the screen timeout. That is the phone's setting, not SimHub's — see the phone guide.

SimHub ships with a set of dashboards, and one of those is usually the right starting point on a phone before you go looking for something more elaborate.

For small USB displays

The constraint here is not aesthetic, it is physical. A 3.5-inch screen at arm's length holds roughly three pieces of information legibly — speed, gear, and one other thing.

Look for dashboards specifically designed at the resolution of your display rather than scaling a larger one down. Scaled text on a small panel is the single most common reason a USB dash gets removed after a fortnight.

Check the display's refresh rate before choosing an animated dashboard. The Turing Smart Screen takes around three seconds for a full refresh with partial updates in between. A rev bar on it will not work. Static readouts will. The device reference has the details.

There is no in-app marketplace and no official index. This is where they live:

The SimHub forum — Dashboard Templates

The largest single source, running to around 190 topics and nearly 1,900 posts. Readable and searchable without an account, though registration is currently paused because of spam.

OverTake.gg downloads

A general sim racing download site with a substantial SimHub section.

Discord

The primary live channel now, and where new releases are usually announced first.

Creator storefronts

Several of the dashboards above are distributed from their creators' own sites, sometimes alongside a plugin they depend on.

Being the reliable index is the whole reason this page exists. Competitor download pages in this space go stale and 404 — one prominent creator's download page currently does. A roundup is only useful if it is maintained, so this one carries a review date and gets re-checked.

Installing one

Download the .simhubdash file and double-click it with SimHub running. Fonts and images unpack automatically. That is the whole process — full detail on installing a dashboard.

If a dashboard requires a plugin, install the plugin first and restart SimHub, or the dashboard will show empty fields where the plugin's properties should be. This trips people up regularly with the LMU and iRacing dashboards above, which are designed alongside their plugins.
